Microsoft har udgivet en pålideligheds opdatering til Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, som de fleste af os kender fra Windows 7 beta 1 platformen. Opdateringen skulle ordne flere forskellige stabilitets problemer og en for nylig oprettet post på IEBlog af program manager Herman Ng, forklarer hvorfor denne opdatering måtte udgives.

"The term reliability is used in a broader fashion including all types of stability problems like crashes, memory leaks or hangs among other things. Microsoft did use the information gathered by windows Error Reporting and the Customer Experience Improvement Program to get an overview of common problems with Internet Explorer 8."

"Approximately 10% of customers who had downloaded the Windows 7 Beta had experienced some type of reliability problem in IE8. We also found that a small number of users were experiencing crashes on a more regular basis and that about 1.5% of all Internet Explorer sessions had encounte-red a crash. This is relatively good for a pre-release version of Internet Explorer running on a beta operating system. We were also pleased to see that the new IE8 Crash Recovery feature was suc-cessfully helping customers recover from these crash situations 94% of the time."

Opdateringen til Internet Explorer 8 til Windows 7, kan downloades fra Microsoft update eller Windows Update.
